You waste your life collecting “precious items” that are discarded the moment you’re gone. Got out own wee private stash, few expensive Ardbeg collector specials, Game of Thrones, just the old comber’s unbelievable… I don’t really get the point of spending this pile of money on a bottle of whisky.

Too many comments on here simply not understanding that this isn’t about whisky being worth the £1.5m, it’s about it being a form of currency that has a value. With the world’s ever-changing financial positions and some country’s currency often being of worthless value outside the country (Kazakhstan for example) this is an investment into a universal product that can grow hugely in value, more than the money would in a UK bank. It’s no different to investing in Gold, classic cars, or crypto, you’re not buying it to drink you’re buying it as an item that has a form of worth that can be exchanged in the future for more (or less) money, or wine, or maybe a valuable painting. It’s just a way for the wealthy to invest in something different and have as a tangible asset other than money.
